Where the design came from
The client came with the event logo and a few reference photos of medals from previous editions. They wanted something new — a runner motif was obvious, but the organisers wanted the medal to be striking enough that participants would want to hang it on the wall rather than put it away in a drawer.
Our graphic designer prepared three concept variants within the first 24 hours. The client chose the version with a heart relief and a runner's silhouette against a stadium — a simple but striking shape. After one round of revisions the production file was ready.
Production and finishing
We made the medal from ZNAL alloy — harder and more resistant to damage than standard zinc. 3D casting preserved all the details, including the texture of the asphalt in the background and the distinct ribs of the rim.
For the finish we chose antique gold plating, which gives the effect of slightly aged, warm gold. Each medal was delivered with a ribbon in the event colours — green and white with the name of the run printed on it.
The result
The medals arrived in Łódź 3 days before the event. The organisers told us that participants were eagerly photographing the awards even before the race, and photos with the medals appeared on social media for several days after the event. For us, that is the best proof that the design was a success.
